Green Gourmet
Green gourmet has been creating 100% plant-based meals and banquets since 1998. We do not use meat or dairy products, nor do we use onion, garlic, chives or shallots in our cooking.
This was a new item featured on the specials board, and, as a lover of spice and eggplants respectively, I had to give this a go. Thought they might pan-fry the buns or something but oooooh no- these babies are DEEP fried. The initial taste of biting through the batter is the same as the batter on fish and chips: oil. Then came the squidgy softness of the bun and then… nothing! The eggplant mixture was totally bland! The radish cakes had much more flavour than these! Even with the greens, chickpeas, tofu, and carrot the eggplant is mixed with, the whole thing is pretty tasteless. Such a shame. Their pork buns are a flavour explosion, but I guess as these are new they’re still working out the kinks. They took my feedback of these very well, so hey, they may will have improved the next time I come around.
