A welcome break after a bit of shopping. Back to Café Gourmand for cake and a turmeric latte.
They had three vegan options. I chose this very tasty oblong of dense chocolate spiked with nut and fruit with a layer of delicious caramel on top studded with pecan and walnut chips.

As a vegan I muse on Krishnamurti’s phrase ‘choiceless freedom’. Often there’s only one option so you have it or you don’t. In this case there were three, but all similar in being chocolate based. Because I would really prefer something like a scone I can often resist the cake temptation. Today I was happy to have gone with the flow. It’s bank holiday Monday here in the UK…I’m rambling 🙃
This is a pleasant cafe with lovely, helpful staff.

tamiapple Love this post! ‘Choiceless freedom’ is something I’ve thought about many times when it comes to food & all of the issues imbued in it. 1 likeReply
