🇬🇷The bomb! 💣 This award 🏆winning chain has our absolute favorite meal and is an #allveganrestaurant. It’s soooooo delicious. Their online menu shows it’s only 0.5kg CO2 which is cool. The Döner 🥙is made from soya pieces marinated in secret spices, served inside a fluffy pita with 🍅tomatoes, 🥬lettuce, red 🧅onion, paprika 🍟fries, and their signature vegan 🧄🥒tzatziki with a sprinkle of oregano. Then you can choose an additional sauce like 🌶️chilli, tahini, more tzatziki or one more. It’s a gut buster so better for lunch than dinner or maybe to share but we never manage that and both want our own. It’s £9.25 but you can earn stamps for a free one on magic stamp. We really need more of these all over London and the UK. We were gutted when they closed their Croydon branch! 😭 I’d love to try other things on the menu but we don’t get their often enough and always are🤤 desperate for this. It’s a must try if you like this sort of thing. #greekvegan #gyros #veganisnotscary #supportsmallbusiness

peter-plant-power Great review, great restaurant. Only the 0.5 kg CO2, that's a fata morgana from Greenwashingland. 1 likeReply
alistar Thank you! Yes they are excellent! Fingers crossed they expand further. Reply
alistar Sorry I had to look up the Fata Morgana reference. Do you think it’s not accurate? Reply
peter-plant-power Well I cannot say that these people do not do any effort in reducing their carbon footprint, but all this calculating and trading off and showing off with numbers on how much CO2 they avoid or use ... what does it really say or mean? What does 500 g of CO2 mean? Compared to what? It looks like bluff. It is generally known that citizens in western countries are urged to make steps and change their habits to reduce their carbon footprint aka CO2 production, and it is also known that companies on the contrary do as good as nothing substantial to decline theirs. 🤔1 likeReply
alistar I’m no expert on these things for sure. At Wimbledon tennis this year they had a low CO2 label on some of the meals on the menu. I was baffled that it wasn’t the same as all the vegan meals. I gave them the feedback they should put the CO2 rating for all the meals so people could see the difference between the vegan, vegetarian, and omnivore options. Then you might see a clear difference that the vegan option is far better for the environment with a lower CO2 level. I don’t know. 1 likeReply
stevenneoh It's impossible to say with any meaningful precision what the true carbon content of your food is. 0.5kg needs huge error bounds, but so would the corresponding estimate for say a beef steak, the difference being that the steak probably starts at 16kg1 likeReply
alistar I see what you’re saying but I suppose they’re just trying to make the point that as a fully vegan restaurant their food is far better for the environment than omnivore restaurants. I think Oatly was also advertising the carbon footprints of their plant milks and comparing to normal milks. It sounds like these are just rough estimates though from what you’re both saying. 1 likeReply
stevenneoh Indeed, we don't want to let the great be the enemy of the good 2 likesReply
