This dish was a house-made roasted Kabocha Squash with apple and turmeric (or at least it was described that way). The soup itself was a bit off for me. It was too sweet and tangy on its own and had a weird flavour I couldn't place. However, the components in the soup made up for it! The fried sage leaves, the 24 hour roasted tamatillo, the different Mexican root vegetables, the green apple, the shishito pepper and the green leaves..just wow. It took each bite on a magical adventure. Each bite was different. Really unique and well-thought out.

My bestie and I went to Avelo together and it was the greatest dining experience I have ever had, ever. They only do 5 tables per time slot. There is the 5-course time and the 8-course time. We chose the 5-course and I couldn't dream if eating the 8-course one. I was #SOFULL. LOL!

The ambiance was out of this world - just look at the photos! Our waiter had only 2 tables and he basically walked us through each bite. He was so attentive. He was the owner. So sooooo kind and cool. They had been reviewed by the Michelin star people, but sadly (and wrongly) did not get a star. But people: this is Michelin-star food! All of this for only $90 after tax and tip! It was insane! My friend and I decided that we will be going once a year at least! #sustainable #fairwages #farmtotable #supportlocal
