This morning I wandered (as my first stop) to Marine Terrace to enjoy delicious handmade vegetarian/vegan chee cheong fun with mushrooms, garnished with tasty “chai poh”!

Soul food for breakfast! Prepared fresh upon order. Rice milled from scratch to create their own rice skirt before steaming. Smooth and silky. Superb quality that ready made frozen ones can never beat. Very nostalgic to me as there used to be something similar at the blocks I lived in MacPherson. Super affordable at $2.50. Not sure about the porridge but the other options are accidentally vegan (vegetables and chives) This was an amazing find! I’ll definitely come back when I’m in the area. #veganuary

This is a hawker stall selling Hong Kong Style rice rolls with various types of fillings. Apparently, the owner mills the rice on her own and steams the rice rolls on the spot! I chose 2 types of plant based fillings- chives (2nd pic) and mushroom (3rd pic). The chives Chee Cheong fun came with additional chai po (preserved radish). They tasted great with the HK light soya sauce.
