Common Ground is a relaxed cafe/eatery in Stroud Green near Finsbury Park. We serve fresh, globally inspired food, pastries & house bakes, specialty coffee from Dark Arts, cocktails and juices in a vibrant unique space. We also have a large back terrace full of plants. Increasingly we aim to work seasonally and sustainably and, as part of this ethos, our menu is meat and fish free.

Common Ground has a good selection of vegan cakes. This #pistachio bun looked very nice with its nutty, green topping. The bun was a bit on the dry side and really needed the creaminess of the pistachio. This is a popular cafe with friendly helpful staff. A very nice local cafe serving a good selection of vegan savouries and cakes. This thick slice of #bananabread was warmed and served with vegan spread. Heating it up really makes a difference otherwise it might be a bit stodgy. It’s quite pricey at £5.8 I noticed they do a more expensive ’brunch’ version with fruit compote, roast plum, whipped oat cream and maple syrup. Mmmm that sounds like the game changer needed…although you’ll be charged almost twice as much! I do love going to this cafe. It has a lovely back garden with one section covered and another with umbrella cover. #veganinlondon #ditchdairy

This is a great local cafe, serving a good selection of vegan dishes. I had this toastie some time ago and remembered how good it was. The standard has been maintained. Nutty brown bread toasted perfectly with a melting filling of cheese. The kimchi is not overpowering which I like and there’s a good spicy kick. It comes with a nice garnish of fresh rocket. Very friendly staff. Extremely popular cafe with a back garden. They’ve given a large expanse of it some good roofing so although you are outside, you’re protected if it rains. #veganinlondon #vegantoastie #kimchi

This #pistachiobun was delicious and huge. I really didn’t need to eat it all in one go, but the lovely moist sponge arranged like a swirl got the better of me. 😋 There’s an irresistible gloopiness- maple syrup maybe and the topping of sweetened, crushed pistachios is genius 🌟 Common Ground have a variety of vegan items, savoury and sweet. Well worth dropping in if you’re in the Stroud Green area of London. #veganinlondon #buns #ditchdairy

Went here for brunch - lots of vegan options at this place. You have to ask for this one vegan, where they replace eggs and halloumi with vegan stracciatella and roast aubergine. This was an easy 5 stars! The vegan stracciatella in particular was amazing. Really great brunch spot - the food, coffee, service and atmosphere. This is my favourite local café. They have great savoury dishes but we were there for tea and cake today. They have a wide selection of vegan pastries. I chose a cinnamon swirl. It was substantial, generously dusted in sugar and infused with cinnamon. The outer layers were a little crisp and dry, still tasty, but I missed the moist, doughier texture. However it didn’t put me off eating the whole thing! The staff here are very friendly and chilled out. This café is a local favourite. We arrived shortly before closing time so I missed out on having my banana bread toasted as the kitchen closed. I wished the staff member hadn’t told me that was their recommended way of serving it because I kept hankering for the toastiness factor 😕 It just means I’ll have to return to sample it that way another time. The cold version was very nice, dense texture, particularly good in the places where the banana had collected in moist clumps. And there were tasty surprises of walnut and veins of chocolate. I was served a substantial slab of cake which went well with an oat flat white. Coffee and cake cost £9. Definitely a treat, not for every day. Another trip to this favourite local cafe. Shared this tasty toastie with my partner and it was plenty as a snack. The picture shows the substantial portion already divided in two. £10.50 for the full dish I really like a toasted sandwich and vegan versions don’t crop up that often. This was combined perfectly so that the cheese was oozing and blended nicely with a spicy kimchi. It was served with fresh rocket and a pot of spicy mayo. The cafe has a very relaxed atmosphere. We sat inside where the walls have been brought back to the brick, There’s soft quirky lighting and furniture using upcycled materials. They have an expansive walled garden, shaded by huge umbrellas. This was a #fivestar toastie. Expensive? Yes. But, the quality of the food and its presentation was so good, I considered the £9.8 spent a rare, but well spent treat. As you can see the well filled freshly toasted sandwich came with a delicious garnish of rocket, radish and mini pickles. The sandwich filling was full of taste-popping flavour, the protein packed tempeh complimented by a rich chilli jam and tasty oozy vegan cheese. Friendly service, lots of vegan choices #nofishnomeat. I really liked the way they automatically serve water. They are popular, so be prepared to wait for a table. They have an attractive back garden where you can sit under a giant umbrella with heaters when it’s cold - like today - or inside transparent pods! #recommended
