I spent enough to get this Tambun biscuit "gift box" for free. Now, what if I told you that the big box contained just 4 pieces (2 packs of 2 each)? Each piece is tiny by the way, because these are really just miniatures. #airmerchant #deathbyplastic 😵 See my previous review for comments on how the shelf-stable manufacturing (c. 6 months of shelf life versus the 7 days you get from fresh merchants like Him Heang) really screws up the flavour and especially texture of these #bakedgoods ☹️ These anyway are a much drier and blander option; fake #tausarpiah they are 😒 #malaysianeats

Okay now I’m hungry reviewing these 😑 and these aren’t even the super nice ones! While the garlicky flavour does come across here I think it’s in general drowned out by how sweet the pastry is 😕 It’s still good and really for the amount you’re getting quite affordable and not to mention #halal - important to note cause the original contains lard 🤮 And they thought I was crazy seeking out #accidentallyvegan #tambun piah 😴 Glad that this app helped surface them for me! #veganisnotscary #veganuary #penang

RM11.90 for 26 pieces. Usually buy the Cheong Kim Chuan Tambun biscuits for my Malay work colleagues whenever I visit penang because the CKC ones are halal. Those contain eggs though. These ones were also halal. Decided to try them out. Tasted practically the same as the CKC ones to me. Flakey, with the slightly savoury fried onion flavour on the inside. #buatanmalaysia PS: First review of 2022. Back under the same roof with my parents again, and haven't been posting as much compared to when I was living alone. Will try to again for 2022.
