Red Kiwi

I think it’s a new type of kiwi introduced by Zespri and I found these at NTUC. They came in eco-friendly/recyclable boxes so I think it’s a plus compared to the plastic packaging that Zespri typically packs the kiwi in. I don’t really taste the “berry” side of the kiwi. Maybe if it ripens a little more it’ll be sweeter but I feel like this kiwi is slightly astringent.

First time having red ruby kiwi and it tastes really good. It's not too sweet but definitely juicy and nutritious.

Red kiwi season is the bestest! I'd have this over sweets anytime!

Inspired by @David- to share another more unique variant of Kiwi I saw & had for the first time recently - a red kiwi! 😲 apparently Kiwi season at NZ means bountiful supply of these lovely fresh fruits to the rest of us everywhere in the world & I’m ever so grateful to still have access to such imported fresh food especially during these COVID times. Also, truly Mother Nature at its best producing such wondrous food This red variant is smaller in size, less hairy exterior and sweet, also from Zespri. But it’s a hit&miss whether you can find it at your local supermarket :P #abillionturns3

Didn’t expect to find this in the Prime Supermarket opposite my house! The red kiwi has a higher Vitamin E (skin health + high antioxidants), Vitamin C and potassium (heart’s health) compared to its golden counterpart. The riper the red kiwi, the sweeter it gets! For mine, they taste similar to the golden kiwi — zesty and smooth! Unlike the golden kiwi, the “fizzy” after taste is not as strong although it is still quite significant. A box of 6 is priced at $7.95 though ._. The red kiwi is seasonal, and it is only available between April and June, and can also be purchased at NTUC FairPrice, Seng Siong, Giant and Cold Storage!
