I think this #ramen #broth, with its milky color and “#veganpork flavor,” is trying to approximate tonkotsu. For the amount of salt it has, I was expecting a lot more flavor. It’s a bit savory and gingery but overall lacks depth and feels incomplete. As other reviewers have suggested, I ended up making significant modifications: I added sesame paste, a scoop of mushroom bouillon, white pepper, and a generous sprinkle of shichimi togarashi. Like Ocean’s Halo’s other broths, this is good source of #iodine and vegan vitamin D. However, it underperformed my expectations, and I will not be purchasing it again. Fortunately, the small 8oz. carton was a good way to try out this broth before committing to a full quart of soup that I’m just not crazy about. #groceryoutletfinds

I picked this ramen broth up from Grocery Outlet sometime in the summer and now that it’s cozy weather time it was time to give it a try. Whilst reading the ingredients I imagined that this broth would be quite flavorful and make a noticeable difference in the finished product. Unfortunately it is relatively bland; this is not what I’d expect from such a speciality product, especially at a full price of $6-7 at other grocers. It has a pleasant flavor but I wouldn’t expect a convenience product at that price point to need much doctoring and this one does in order to satisfy. Not a bad product if you find it on clearance and know you’ll be adding flavor to it but certainly not worth the regular price tag in my opinion. #ramen #veganramen #broth #groceryoutletfinds
not what i was expecting - the appearance of the broth itself is like milky / cloudy, the taste was not very salty or flavourful at all. i added dark soy sauce in addition to the ramen i was making for the colour & flavour
I tried this for the first time, excited to make ramen 🍜 It was okay taste-wise. I added stir-fried broccoli and seitan to the dish and felt like I need to add more salt and pepper to make it tastier.
Pretty good, but I’m more likely to buy regular vegetable broth next time
