Cultured Vegan Farmhouse Cheddar Slices

I did not think these had the great Miyoko’s taste that I have come to love. Perhaps because it was close to the expiration date. I used in grilled cheese with ham and a sandwich so it was ok.

I was looking forward to this since trying their pepper jack slices and all I can say is... the taste confounds me. It really doesn’t taste like cheddar or even cheese in general. There was a certain acidic quality that approximated cheesiness but it didn’t quite hit the mark. But Amanda from Everyday Vegan Grocer (where I got this from) said Miyoko is phasing this version out and introducing an improved and supposedly more nutritious version, so I’m looking forward to trying that.

This is the second time I bought this cheese. Guess why ? :) I was craving it and I wanted to taste is again. For me this is vegan cheese number one. I haven’t tried to melt it yet. I just put it on a slice of toast and enjoy the creamy intense taste.

Queijo tipo cheddar que derrete, lembra muito o das famosas redes de fast-food. Infelizmente essa marca não tem no Brasil.

Excellent cheese! Purchased the slices to serve with crackers, olives, dark chocolate & vino!
