Omg this was so good! I saw it at Whole Foods. I originally went to check out their sale on 50% off frozen pizzas. I was trying to take the less crowded way and BOOM! There it was. I thought, “alright. I’ll give it a try…with low expectations of course.” I was NOT disappointed. This was absolutely delicious and very difficult to not chug the whole thing. It’s very creamy. Tastes just like cookies! Maybe my taste buds are different. Especially since I can’t eat Oreos. Besides, they don’t use vegan sugar in their cookies. Not in the US. Anyways, this is definitely something that I might try to get more often. Lots of protein! Has a few other vitamins in there. No vitamin D though. I was very confused by that. I hope they add that in as they grow. It would probably be more expensive though if they did add it in and it’s already pricey. Highly recommend this protein shake! #veganfortheanimals #veganisnotscary #top9allergenfree #dairyisscary

First time trying OWYN, but I’d heard good things about it in the past (from abillion friends that I sadly haven’t seen around in quite a while.) This one was a gift from my brother, so I don’t know the exact price, but I’d guess it was fairly expensive, as is typical of #protein products. As a child, I developed an aversion to all things cookies-and-cream when I became ill after trying it for the first time. Since I’ve avoided it for so long, I’m not sure what it’s supposed to taste like and can’t really comment on the accuracy. But the first few tentative sips went down OK, and I agree with other reviewers who noted a prominent cocoa flavor. It’s deep brown and tastes like the biscuit part of an Oreo, but liquefied. The consistency was good: smooth, thin, and easy to drink, with no obvious chalkiness or sludge following a vigorous shake. This particular flavor is sweetened with sugar and a bit of monk fruit; I didn’t notice any weird sugar substitute aftertaste (nor any hint of the greens blend, for that matter.) It’s allergen-tested, and thus #soyfree, #nutfree, and #glutenfree. I don’t know if I would get it again, but it wasn’t half bad! #ditchdairy — I try not to get taken in by all the protein hype, but as the only vegan in my fitness group, I sometimes feel like I have something to prove. Although the people that I work out with are all really supportive, I think gym culture is just steeped in hegemonic ideas about protein, and it’s really easy to get caught up. The frame through which I view things (feel free to disagree) is that these products can be useful adjuncts, but they are far from necessary and ideally shouldn’t be used to replace meals.
