I made the drive to Marysville, Ohio this

past weekend to attend the Open Barn Day at Sunrise Sanctuary yesterday (May 11, 2024). This experience alone made my weekend.

But afterwards, I had dinner at SOW Plated in Arlington, Ohio (close to Columbus). According to the restaurant’s website, “SŌW Plated is a made-from-scratch, health-inspired restaurant and bar predicated on a simple philosophy that the food we eat is directly connected to our overall wellness. We also believe dining should be fun and effortless, bringing together people of all dietary preferences – including vegan, vegetarian and gluten-free – to enjoy the freshest and highest quality offerings available on the market.”

This restaurant did not disappoint!!! My date (a fellow vegan) and I chose to share three appetizers / starters. The first was the Jackfruit Tikka Masala Tacos. Although small (by my standards), they were loaded with taste and deliciousness. The last photo lists the ingredients/toppings. The toppings were simple, but a unique combination. Incredibly healthy too.

Food made from food!

If I lived there, I can see myself being a regular patron there.

I was very impressed that people were constantly flowing into the restaurant. I don’t know if the area is full of vegans and vegetarians, but great food always attracts people. I was so happy to see this restaurant doing very good business. Although not a 100% vegan restaurant, many of the menu items were vegan.

Our server was very helpful with her recommendations. I definitely recommend going to this restaurant if you’re in the area.

We started our meal with these beautiful #jackfruit #tacos from the #appetizer menu. They were

FANTASTIC. I am absolutely not a jackfruit fan unless it's made the right way, and this was cooked perfectly. It had such a meaty texture, and it absorbed the delicious Tikka #Masala flavors, without the overally sweet flavor jackfruit tends to have. These had a #vegan #curry aioli, pickled red onion, puffed quinoa, cilantro, lime served in double white corn tortillas. These are #glutenfree as well. The puffed quinoa gave it such a unique crunch and the pink onions made the dish so beautiful. These were $12, so a bit pricey, but they were made with fresh, #organic and #locallysourced ingredients, so I think the price is fair.
