AVIS LES PLUS UTILES

I finally used another coupon in my “Toronto’s First Ever Plant-Based

Deals Book” and visited Il Fornello. It’s an Italian restaurant located at Pape + Danforth in Toronto’s Greek Town neighbourhood. This restaurant has a dedicated plant-based menu, unlike many Italian restaurants in Toronto.

The restaurant had a little patio out front. I wasn’t expecting this. The weather was good that night so we took advantage of it and dined outdoors.

My friend ordered Plant-Based Spaghetti Capri. In the dish were plant-based Heura chicken, wild mushrooms, spinach, tomato, olive oil, garlic, and plant-based Parmesan. She was quite curious about how the plant-based chicken would taste, plus she LOVES mushrooms!

“Heura” is a brand name (I didn’t know this prior to ordering). The Heura chicken pieces were incredible. They tasted just like chicken; no exaggeration.

These flavours blended so well together. It was difficult to imagine this was a vegan spaghetti; it would appeal to the masses. The only (small) negative was it was a little oily. Despite this, she said she’d rate it 15 out of 10. That’s a pretty good endorsement from a non-vegan.

Kudos to Il Fornello for putting in the effort to create a delicious plant-based menu. Many Italian restaurants that I’ve visited make absolutely no effort to attract vegans. The best they offer is pasta and tomato sauce, with no cheese. Or a garden salad. Big deal.

And thank you to This Is Plant Curious (https://instagram.com/thisisplantcurious?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==) for publishing the deal book and introducing me to Il Fornello and other plant-based restaurants in the Greater Toronto Area. I will definitely return to this restaurant.
