This was a beautifully plated, perfectly tasty #riceset for lunch 🙂 At RM25 it's not cheap, but then there is much to admire in the quality of what they're doing. The name is a bit #lostintranslation - clearly it's not that they bring your favourite fungi all the way from a southern province of China (RIP sir, iykyk 😥), but rather it's an allusion to the #hainanesechickenrice dish that's one of the quintessential #malaysianeats 😋
Indeed, they nailed the spiced rice, it was so deliciously fragrant. The #okra and picked vegetables were good too, and I could not for the life of me figure out what those crispy things were meant to be 😅 Clearly the main draw was supposed to be the #monkeyheadmushroom #airfryer to a partially convincing crisp. It was not bad, but you know what really really made this dish? That #chilli in the innocuous dish top left corner, oh I would drink it's gingery goodness by the glass 😋
This place has taken a step backwards - they used to identify in the menu which items were vegan and which were not. Now they don't anymore 😥 Denying clarity on the options on offer; what, are they taking lessons from Malaysian politics or something? 🙃
