Cowpea Bun

one of my favourite buns from almond bakery! it's not too sweet. i love the chewy cowpeas in the bun which gives the bun a nice bite. purchased this for my bf and he really liked it as well! will recommend 😋 $1.60

my first time trying cowpea paste and it feels like an in-between / blend of yam and lotus paste! the paste had bits of the bean (beans werent completely mashed up) which i appreciated :) $1.50

Interesting flavour! This was filled with a sweetened paste of black-eyed peas, aka a type of cowpea. Tastes a bit like sweet yam paste! #sgbreads

Been finding for vegetarian/vegan bakeries near me and found Almond Bakery! Most of their items have been sold out when I was there (~6pm). They’re very generous with their filling and the filling isn’t too mushy, with a nice bite since the beans are not overly mashed (you can still see bits of the beans). If you ask me how does the cowpea filling (or as they call it 眉豆 in Mandarin) taste like, I think it’s almost between a red bean and lotus paste. The bun isn’t overly sweet which is great! Their other baked goods are also priced affordably. 💸: $1.50

I googled what 眉豆 is on google and got cowpea? Not sure if it’s correct hahaha. Tasted like a regular red bean bun, love how it has whole beans! A bit sweet tho
