My sister never ceases to surprise me with the vegan stuff she buys for me. I’m visiting her again this Christmas and I had this Daring Original Plant Chicken Pieces from Fresh Direct as part of my dinner one night.
I was so excited to try this. I’ve never seen it at home (Toronto, Canada) but wish it becomes available very soon.
The pieces were small; I was expecting them to be larger with grill marks (just as displayed on the package), but they don’t look like that at all. Once cooked, they didn’t taste meaty, but like very crispy chicken skin. This is not a complaint, just unexpected.
They were absolutely delicious. My niece tried some and liked it.
One-third of the bag is one serving (which is a realistic sized portion) and each serving provides a lot of fibre, protein and iron, with a decent amount of calcium and potassium. There’s very little fat too.
I don’t know the cost, but I assume it was pricey considering it’s from Fresh Direct. I’ll have to ask my sister to get this again for my next visit.
