So I went looking for vegan torrijas somewhere in the city and after much searching Bolas appeared with their gluten free, milk free, egg free torrijas! However, I would soon learn that the first choice isn’t alway the best. The first thing that really bugged me was the huge rigid plastic container they put it in to be used for about 2 minutes to just go to landfill. I had been avoiding any type of plastic like the plague all year and my streak was ruined by this, where the logical packaging would be some sort of paper bag or just a serviette. My friend got a non-vegan premium one which was a lot thicker and the plastic box couldn’t even close over the top of hers, making it pretty much useless. Next was the temperature. Cold and unappetising. The flavour and texture were ok? I guess? My other friend who’s a native had a bite and just shook her head. Conclusion- if you want something decent, hike over to Vegan Rock in Triana who’ll be doing them from the 22nd of March. Do better, Bolas!
