I bought this cashew-based cheese at Metro during the Christmas holidays. It was drastically marked down to $2.33; I think it was regularly priced at over $12. I have no idea why it was discounted so much (there were 3 months to go before the best before date). So I took 2 of the last 3 packs.
At $12 or so, I wouldn’t buy it; I would consider it overpriced.
This cheese is absolutely delicious. The cranberry and pink peppercorn combination works really well together. It works well visually too. The cheese is semi firm, but I found that it doesn’t melt too well (this doesn’t bother me).
Nutritionally, one serving (1/4 of the package) contains a decent amount of iron, but a lot of fat and sodium.
I really liked this cheese, but I would only buy it if it was at a really good price. I would not pay regular price.
