Look at the delicate details on those petals! Apart from the meticulously and artfully crafted frosting, this isn’t vastly different from Róa’s regular midnight cupcakes - deliciously rich ganache with dark chocolate oozing through light soft sponge. It’s always a pleasant surprise to non-vegans and vegans alike that Róa’s cakes are entirely plant-based, including ingredients like homemade brown rice milk and avocados (as a butter substitute I think). A healthy delight.

I did wonder what the frosting was made of because it had a slightly grainy texture almost like it could’ve been made of yam/sweet potato, but apparently it wasn’t. (EDIT: Just found out from their website that they were made from lima beans and coloured using beetroot juice and match powder!)

Anyway, overall, the cupcakes were sweet without being cloying and really enjoyable. And yes, this is review is nearly two months late - I got these Valentine’s Day/CNY cupcakes in conjunction with my birthday (in February).
