I hunted high and low for ‘chili oil’ and came up empty handed. The closest thing I could find was made with shrimp & bacon. (BACON?!??) Three markets later I realized that I should have just made the long trek up to our local Mega import store (or tried to concoct it myself.) I brought this Korean pantry staple home instead and I am so thankful-it’s amazing! This is so versatile and I love that it is fermented. The taste is a little salty, sweet and hot. It’s a medium heat that builds slowly (not three alarm fire hot!) The price on the company’s website is insane-it was absolutely affordable at my local co-op.
