At the end of the week, there's a big Barbeque that many people show up to. They don't grill anything vegan, but they did offer to make us a veggie burger. This is also something that can be ordered for lunch any day from the bar. Unfortunately, the burgers come on a brioche bun by default. I had to switch that out for Ciabatta to make it vegan. This makes it a bit difficult to eat since Ciabatta is a harder bread. The patty is a black bean burger that I really enjoyed. It's served with a thick slice of tomato, sauteed onion, and lettuce. It's also served with a pickle spear and fries. This was the last dinner we had in the restaurant. The final night was the BBQ, which I will review shortly. I was happy to find that this curry was significantly different from the tofu curry. The sauce on this one was less sweet and thicker. I really enjoyed the flavor and thought I'd had a nice mild spice. It has a wide variety of vegetables as well as tofu. I haven't had sweet and sour sauce in a while, so this was nice to see. It was pretty sweet. A bit too sweet than I'd like. The stir fry included pineapple and I had to skip most of those. I did appreciate the addition of some new vegetables: broccoli and cauliflower! This stir fry has mushrooms, peppers, carrots, onions, and battered tofu. The sauce over everything was very soy sauce forward. I liked all of the mushrooms and appreciated the extra step it took to batter the tofu. The tofu was really soft and soaked up the flavor of the stir fry well. This is such a simple dish, but it ended up being my favorite of the week. It's also a bit of a strange combination. Ragu is typically a pasta sauce, so I was surprised to have it with beans. The tomatoes used in this sauce were just perfect to me and it was a nice hearty meal. My mouth was watering eating this very simple dish. At the beginning of each week, the resort has a welcome meeting with some hors d'oeuvres and rum punch for all guests. Some of the options were a bit unidentifiable, but I could pick out marinated olives and bruschetta. I've been eating so many olives this trip. Maybe it's the salt of the sea making me crave the salt from olives. I was gushing over these marinated kalamata olives. The bruschetta was nice too, but the olives really got me. I enjoyed the fruity rum punch as well. This is the first special vegan dish that was made for us. The chef asked us the night before if this sounded good and we were looking forward to it. I was happily surprised that this included naan! This dish came out piping hot, which is nice considering buffet food really only trends towards warm. The curry itself was a bit sweeter than I expected, but I liked the flavor. It has the right amount of spice that made me sweat, but the naan and rice helped mellow it out. The tofu was very soft and was fun to eat. The curry soaked up the rice well and I appreciated the naan for helping me get the last bits. The first dinner we had here, we just went with the buffet. Surprisingly, I was able to fill up my plate and was satisfied with the choices! The chef has been cooking special meals for us, although the buffet is still available. This first night there were some delicious hash brown potatoes, broccoli with caramelized onions and craisins, coconut rice, and there's always a salad bar. I'd recommend skipping the bread; it was really hard. I liked all the dishes enough, but it is nice that they will make a special vegan meal if you'd like. I still usually make a little salad as an appetizer. I think the only vegan dressing is the herb vinaigrette, but it's delicious so I don't mind that it's the only option. An important start to any diving day includes a nice wholesome breakfast. This resort's buffet has all a vegan needs to get a good start to the day. I've been enjoying the granola cereal with raisins. I really love the cinnamon in it. They have both almond and soy milk to choose from! There's also always plenty of fruit and potatoes. The potatoes are seasoned nicely. Sometimes they are served with bell pepper, sometimes just onion. There's also a toast area off to the side with peanut butter and jelly. They also have a variety of fruit juices like orange, apple, and cranberry.
