Went for an early breakfast with a dear friend at MTR and decided to order something light this time. The neer #dosai ($6) didn’t have much flavour but had a nice chewy texture. Some of it stuck to the plate though (I’m a slow eater). It comes with coconut chutney and a yummy mixture of jaggery and grated coconut which I later found out, contains “traces of ghee” :( I emailed them and they told me that a lot of the items contain traces of ghee, which I guess is unavoidable because they use the same tawa for cooking. Here’s what I found out: Sambhar - Contains ghee Coconut chutney - No ghee Shavige bhath - Contains ghee Rice #idli - No curd Rava idli - Contains curd Mangalore buns - Contains milk Vada and palya - No ghee but may contain traces of it.

These mangalore fried buns are made of flour, banana, cumin & other spices! Comes with a side of spicy coconut chutney 😍 one of my favs, I used to have this when I travelled to banglore, india 🇮🇳

This vada is super crispy and filling. Probably made with lentils and rice flour. They also give a chutney and sambhar to dip this in so it’s a MUST TRY!! 10/10

I’m giving so many stars in my reviews of the food served at MTR because IT IS INCREDIBLE. I have been gatekeeping this for 2 years as I do get a lil too secretive at times, but I want them to keep thriving so here you go.

The dosa was prepared with an exemplary balance — crispy at the bottom and fluffy at the top!! Topped with chutney powder and spiced potatoes which were absolutely phenomenal.

Once again, my taste for a lack of taste made these a winner for me! I’ve not had #idli since I’ve gone vegan. Curiously not because it needs be #veganized; It needn’t! ..but because I’ve always found the ones I’ve had a touch too sweet 🤮 and I’m all for my food to be savoury. The #curry and #chutney here come in handy if you’d rather dip the idli but I was happy to savour the wonderful lentil flavour of the cake. I do wonder how their recipe differs since it should be a basic dough of lentils and rice but at only S$2.50 each I’m not complaining. This was delicious!

This is one for the #sweetdreamsaremadeofgrease crowd! The #puri had quite a bit of oil to it; I’m not sure if that’s a result of us having a #veganized version or if it just is as is! It was served with a #potato #curry and gosh I’m getting sick of even mentioning it.. a #chutney 🧪 As you can imagine, we couldn’t finish all the dips and sides they gave us, but gosh did we ever get close! I just want to get this out of the way though, I’m so sick of flatbreads after this one night 🙈 Give me rice or noodles any day of the week! So in spite of how *objectively* good this was, I didn’t enjoy it too much. The greasiness was too much after a while. This for a single meal though? At S$6? Awesome, delicious.

I had to admit how once in a while my Dutch tastebuds come through and I find this most plain and tasteless of #dosa my favourite meal of the night 🤦‍♀️ It’s the goopey texture that does it for me, really. It comes with #coconut shavings and #chutney but I didn’t even once pair it with either. I just wanted plain sticky dosa 💁‍♀️ Had you all fooled this long thinking I had good taste in food though 🤹‍♀️ Like a lot of their other dosa, this cost S$6 but unlike the rest it was vegan from the get-go 🎉 though I’d always #asktoveganize just to stay in the clear. I should also note that this is a #special only available on Thursdays, so don’t go here expecting this to be disappointed! 🙇‍♀️
