I first encountered this simplest of side dishes at Ippudo in New York, and I still love it. I'm not even a huge fan of cucumber really, but here it just pairs so brilliantly with the combination of subtle flavours from the sesame oil, garlic, chilli flakes and sesame seeds. Nom nom.

Good try Ippudo! For me the taste is around 75% close the original akamaru i used to love. But if you're not tasting the original akamaru side by side you wouldn't know any difference. The chashu could be better tho. I was looking for a bit charring for the chashu.

Finally tried Ippudo’s #plantbased #ramen!!! It was delicious ☺️ I did end up adding some chili in to make it spicier (I like my ramen spicy 🌶). Will definitely order it again!

OH MAN. The broth is so tasty and the whole wheat noodles really add another dimension to it too. 😍 The mix of oils make this bowl of ramen so fragrant too. 💕

Tasted really good. Soy based soup with a dollop of porcini mushroom oil and a little bit of chilli. You have a choice soft, medium, or hard noodle. Went for the medium texture. It’s slightly springy like wantan noodle. Also comes with two slices of a plant based ham

Saw this all over my feed and had to try it out! It was super yummy, I like the Ippudo noodles a lot and the broth was really flavourful! So nice to see this option, I hope it becomes a mainstay :) #abillionturns3

Mind blown by the tonkotsu-like broth! I added an extra portion of spring onions which helped to cut through the rich broth. It was really tasty and I finished every drop! The eggless noodles had a good bite while the mock chashu was just ok with a texture similar to ham. Overall, I really enjoyed the dish and hope it will be a permanent dish on the menu!

I've long been a fan of Ippudo's Akamaru Shinaji, so I was super excited to try this fully plant-based, vegan-friendly option. It's a very good version of Ippudo's classic dish - I'm especially a fan of the beautifully creamy soup, which mimics the thick umaminess of the original soup base without the tonkatsu or the meat. Wonderfully savoury, and comforting too. The plant-based chashu was decent too! Would definitely come back again, and I hope this stays on Ippudo's menu indefinitely! #abillionturns3
