There’s nothing else quite like the severely #foochow offering that is #angchow So intense that I’ve been clocked as such while presenting this dish at a dinner party once 😂 The bright red hue. The smell of Chinese wine… 😌 This uniquely #chinese #stew boasts bright slightly herbal and #fermented flavours. Coupled with the #cookingwine and #ginger, you get a fantastically refreshing but still indulgent aromatic experience 🤓 The #hericiummushroom was stewed to perfection to a falling of the non-existent bone tenderness 😋 Of course, such an intense dish was designed for white rice and so I obliged with great jubilance 🤩 RM18 is an expected pricing for something with #lionsmanemushroom but for how well-cooked it was, i could accept it 👌 If you haven’t tried this quintessential foochow #delicacy, then I do recommend sampling it at least once in your life (especially if you’re into stuff cooked in wine) 😜

I was never fond of #kacangma before as it’s often too bitter from the heavy hand of cooking wine 🫨 To the uninitiated, such bold herbaceous flavours can be intimidating on the taste buds as well 😅 Perhaps it was the perfectly braised #lionsmanemushroom 😋 or the precisely tuned seasonings that changed my #palette 😙 The saltiness was mild as it should be. The bitterness was but a whisper in the #herby mix of it all 😛 Either way, each tender and slightly bouncy bite would make even the most cynical reconsider 🤨 Such a fine #stew does come at a slightly hefty RM 18 😮‍💨 If you haven’t had, I think it’s worth trying at least once in your life 👌

I think this was somewhere around RM6…? Still solid to me though! 😙 I’d consider this a serving of #greasy comfort 😋

As far as #lormee goes, this was actually great!! 🤩 This was, in fact, @dafnelately’s order that i hacked because… look at it 😏 How could i not? The sauwwccee was #thicc 👌 Flavours were the poster boy of lormees 🔥 Its strong dark soy sauce essence thoroughly coated every strand of the #yellownoodles 😋 which were perfectly chewy! The button #mushrooms, #tofupuffs and lean style #mockmeat were nothing special but adequate for its secondary role to this grand bowl of #noodles 🍜 RM7 is (apparently) a norm BUT the exceptional quality and generous portion make it worthwhile in my book 👏 This would be a great comfort to enjoy on a rainy afternoon ☺️♨️

Looking at it now, i’m astonished that I haven’t come across this dish before! 🤩 It’s so simple in theory yet i can’t help but consider it such an original 😆 Foochow upbringing or not, this ain’t no wok hei dish 🫣 It’s all good though because this reads as a cleaner #stirfry #kuehteow dish 😙 The basic components allow the salted #radish to shine through these delightful #ricenoodles 😋 Though, it didn’t make the dish as savoury as i thought it would… Plus, all the cuts of vegetables gave a fair amount of sweetness to the dish 🥬🥕 My only critique is that i wished there were so proteins 🥲 Unfortunately, the Malaysian economy is in such a bad shape even this #vegetarian #hawker has to price this at RM6.50 😮‍💨 If you can’t get the leicha porridge here, this is a great next option!! 😝

I annihilated this 💣 Unbelievably good, except I do believe that all the #porridge they serve at VtheWorld — Come On Veggie is exceptionally delicious 😋 If you’re picturing savoury #duck, guess again because in proper Chinese style they actually prepare their #veganduck rather sweet 🦆 and choose to load on with other #savoury toppings instead like #caipo and peanuts 🥜 I do think this would be #betterwithoutcoriander and swapped for parsley instead but this time of the year I’m just missing Vietnam 🤗

If you tried their #economyrice in the past and didn’t like it, I recommend you try them again! 😋 They have seriously stepped up their game 🙌 Their selection is far more varied and enticing than it’s ever been! Especially those #fritters they have! 🍢 On Sunday they had #mushrooms in them & today, #pumpkin 🎃 Not to mention the great choice of vegetables! 🥬 The price point is about what you’d expect for #mixedrice — anything from RM4-8 based on what you get. If they have fried #veganfish with #curry leaves I highly recommend getting it 🐟 One unfortunate omission is the lack of #brownrice or #purplerice, something I take for granted in more health-oriented or #dayak establishments 🍚 A whole vegetarian #foodcourt full of amazing Malaysian #hawkerfood 🤗 Absolutely #bestpicks this #kopitiam! #veganinkuching #malaysianeats #cheapandgood

Something not available on the scribbled menu; RM8 for #fish + #carbsforlife. A swap from chicken to veganize, chook and eggs go together, remember? If only it tasted as good as it looks. Sugar's king here, queen tangy's more or less displaced and nowhere to be found. Still grateful for vegetarian food to be on rotation (main section closed) till 830pm, a rarity (the entire Kuching shuts by 530pm apart from mall operators. Okaayy… I ain’t never had one like this before 🤨 It’s clear I’ve been hearing far too much of @dafnelately’s rambles about #chinese #vegetarian #curries 😂 but that doesn’t mean she’s wrong… most especially now 🧐 I’m just gonna jump straight in and say it. The #curry was sweet *gasps* 😧 I know. This wasn’t just a little #sweet slipped into a wonder of aromatics. It was ONLY sweet 🤯 I also underestimated its flavour potential altogether as the #currysauce just looked so thin! The breading was #fried to perfection though. The insides were soft and moist 🤤 I guess the rice wasn’t half bad but something about it didn’t feel optimal with such a meal 🤔 For RM7 though, it filled me up and was still overall satisfying — thanks to texture 👏 I’d still recommend this stall as they have plenty of other wonderful #naturallyvegan offerings 😁👌

My first #bakchang since going #vegan 🥹 I nearly shed tears of joy when I learned it was available year-round at my newly frequented #vegetarian #kopitiam 😭 For those who may not be familiar, this is a fantastic kind of #chinese #dumpling 🤩 It is a #steamed one at that! The wrapping is pandan leaf… always 😳 It gives a gentle fragrance to the mass of #glutinousrice within, but not just plain. No sir… Notice the inviting colouring of soy sauce that seasons this snack 🤪 Then, at the core of it… some #hericiummushroom and the usual Chinese flower #mushrooms 😝 I believe this 1 pyramid food came at the price of RM3 or RM3.50 🙃 I still remember as a child… my mom complaining about it being RM2 😂 If you’ve never had, you haven’t lived 😉

Looking at it, I would never have guessed this to be #chickenrice 😮 Tasting it, though? I absolutely would 🤩 This humble little stall housed in an equally humble #kopitiam presents this fascinating rendition that separates the protein textures! I’d like to start with the also surprisingly savoury and lightly gingery #rice 😛 It didn’t give off as strong of an aroma as it actually tasted 😙 It was mostly soft but slightly stiff enough to signify the minimal amount of fat you’d want for such a dish 😉 The #mockchicken tasted like #chicken just dripping in juices of that allium-heavy flavours 😋 It was quite the rival to steamed chicken rice replicas. Then, the addition of fried #beancurdskin took me to a place of roasted #hainanesechickenrice 🤪 I never thought I’d get the best of both chicken rice worlds in a #vegan variant for just RM6.50!! 😍 #worthit T’was even #omnivoreapproved by @dafnelately’s brother so… 😏 yeah… #veganisnotscary
