Tofu Sheets

Very difficult to work with but I ended up loving them. They didn’t turn out like the picture at all. I followed the instructions by microwaving them, and then turned into one big mushy weird blob. Impossible to roll them up individually like in the picture, even after letting it cool down. I ended up shredding it apart with my hands and throwing it into a noodle stir fry. It added a “fried egg” texture which was great! I would get this again to use in a fried rice or stir fry, but just know this is more of like shredded tofu instead of individual sheets. If they had parchment paper or something to separate them in between it would be easier. #tofu #tofusheets

I picked up these frozen tofu sheets at Trader Joe's, and since they’re already frozen, I didn’t even have to bother with rehydrating—super quick and easy! When I first saw them, I thought they'd be great marinated to make lox because of their texture. But once I cooked them, they ended up reminding me of chicken way more than anything else. So, I decided to change gears and use them to make chicken soup instead. I chopped them into chunks, tossed them with some onions, garlic, celery, and carrots, and added a little thyme, salt, and pepper. Then I poured in some veggie broth and noodles, and voila! These are a really cool freezer staple to have on hand from Trader Joe's. They're super versatile and can be used in many different ways. I twisted mine and made little soy twist curls. They soaked up the teriyaki sauce and were a great addition to my rice and veggie bowl. These are also 15 grams of #protein per serving and have minimally processed ingredients. I wasn’t planning on using these tofu sheets by Trader Joe's the way that I did! I thought I had enough soy chinks to make my spicy ceviche but I had run out! Luckily I remembered buying these and thought why not give it a go! I defrosted the sheets and cut them up with scissors into smaller pieces! Came out perfect and mimics fish really well! That’s how my sister n law used to make it before I transitioned to plant based!
