My inbox was flooded with the upcoming so-called #acaibowl day yesterday. So even though it’s still not officially smoothie season for me, I surrendered to the temptation🫐🥝🍫🥥 Like the other acai brands, these came in layers of plastic😣 But I don’t blame the business but myself as a consumer who wants something “exotic”. Why? Because acai berries are highly perishable. There’s no way to ship them half way across the world without freezing them puréed-style or dried and grinding them into powder within a day of harvest. For my own conscience, taking into consideration of my overall eating habit, I don’t exclude it completely from consumption but only get it once in a while (I used to buy them without a blink of an eye😥). I hope Trader Joe’s would come up with a better material though, seeing that they’re already replacing some plastic packaging to compostable one🙏🏼 #abillionlove #plantpower #eattherainbow #berrylover

I love being able to make acai bowls and smoothies at home. Great way to save money and also make them exactly how you want. I usually add banana, oat milk, peanut/almond butter, coconut oil, some greens (spinach in this case), frozen blueberries, etc. You can keep it simple or go crazy with the base. And then gotta top it off with some fruit, seeds, etc. Also recommend granola, which I did not have this time around.
