Beyond Meatballs Italian Style

Spotted these Beyond Meatballs at FairPrice and turned them into a Sri Lankan-style curry with roasted curry powder and tomatoes. They held up well in the gravy, absorbed the spices nicely, and added a satisfying bite. Surprisingly versatile for something labeled Italian. Definitely worth picking up again.

Italians will probably hate me for this, but I am made this #beyondmeatballs with tomato sauce and pasta. I haven’t had one product from Beyond Meat that’s disappointed. I bought this package of 24 Beyond Meat Meatballs at Grocery Outlet for $14.99. I had never seen this product before, so I had to get it. I don’t know if the price of $14.99 was good, but I assumed it was. These plant-based meatballs, when thawed, don’t look appetizing, but they cook up extremely well. They’re a little on the greasy side while cooking, but they brown nicely and they taste absolutely delicious. They can probably be passed off for the real thing to the unsuspecting omnivore.  Even though the package says that the company has reduced the salt component, there’s still a lot of salt in these meatballs. But there’s also a lot of fiber, protein, iron, and potassium.  I haven’t seen these meatballs since, but I would without hesitation get them again. They’re probably the best ones on the market. 

These meatballs are delicious in a spaghetti dinner or meatball sub. It pairs especially well with marinara. #beyondmeatballs
