XO Sauce Lion's Mane Mushroom

Monkey head mushroom was good - bite sized pieces, texture was good. The sauce wasn’t particularly special imo.

Monkey-head mushroom is tender and chewy. The X.O sauce is deeply immersed into each 1 of the mushroom. Each bite is savory & satisfying.

I love mushrooms, especially Lion's Mane & Monkey Head mushrooms. I find that they have a natural hearty bite. The taste is also fragrant and goes well with a lot of asian cooking. I much rather choose a dish with these mushrooms than mock meat. The Taiwanese mock meats are usually soy base with favoring. This XO is spicy and can't be toned down by the restaurant. I was expecting a kick because of the look of the red chillie oil & chillie seeds but it was actually quite mild. This is such a hearty dish with some carrots and fried tiny vermicelli as garnish.
