I was looking forward to trying this place because they offer lots of vegan options and even though I did like it, I've never been so overwhelmed and confused when placing an order 😆
The taste of the sandwich did taste good and the customer service was also great even though they made me a sandwich totally opposite of what I ordered 🤦🏻♀️
The whole ordering process is not for someone like me I suppose because I read menu items literally and want to make sure my food is vegan friendly 🌱
For starters, they offer so many sandwich options, I got overwhelmed looking at the menu.
Here comes the confusion, (for me at least) 😆
I interpreted the menu that sandwiches with a 🥕 could be made vegan friendly meaning they contain ingredients that are not vegan. Or at least that's how I interpret it.
I decided to go with the Time Travelers Wife Sandwich which wasn't a bad choice but I definitely did not experience or enjoy the sandwich like I would have liked to.
Unfortunately, I may have asked too many questions and somewhere in the process, they didn't make my sandwich like I requested it 🤦🏻♀️
So when I was placing my order, I was asked to choose the type of bread I wanted.
Since I was veganizing a sandwich, I didn't want to "assume" all their breads were vegan friendly so I asked the associate which ones were vegan friendly.
He wasn't sure so he had to call his colleague. I asked her and she also wasn't sure so she called another colleague. Her answer was "I think" they're all vegan 🤔😳
Her response wasn't too convincing so luckily they have their nutritional info on their website so I quickly looked it up and she was right. Most breads there are vegan friendly.
I went with the sourdough bread, requested lettuce and tomatoes, and asked for NO CHEESE since it comes with provolone cheese.
I also asked for the zesty orange glaze to be on the side because I'm not the biggest fan of sauces and wanted to make sure it wasn't spicy either.
5 minutes after placing my order, an associate asks if I wanted the cheese. I said no because provolone cheese is not vegan friendly so she then mentions they offer vegan shredded cheese.
I told her I didn't want cheese ( vegan or not vegan) but if the sandwich was already made with "cheese", I would take it "as is" as long as it was with vegan cheese.
A few minutes later, my order was given to me and when I was ready to dive in, my sandwich had No lettuce, No Tomatoes, orange glaze sauce in the sandwich (not on the side like I requested).
It did have the vegan cheese I did not order but I did okay anyway to avoid food waste and I also got a side of sauce but it wasn't the orange glaze.
Instead, I got a side of some sauce I'm "assuming" was the Vegan Dirty Sauce which I explained I didn't want 😆🤦🏻♀️
I mean, the sandwich wasn't bad but it also wasn't how I wanted it.
The sourdough bread was yummy and so was the faux-meat. The sauce was sweet with no spiciness.
I won't give this a 1 star because technically I'm rating the food, not the service. It can be a great sandwich if made to order right.
Oh, and the price for this sandwich was right under $13 (USD) which seems pricey but I'd probably order it again if I needed to 😆
