Country Vegetable Pie

I’m so excited about the option to grab a pie on the go again! 😭🙌🏻 King Pie had a stall at #theplantpoweredshow and I got to try 2 out of their 3 new vegan-friendly plant based pies 🥧 This one here is the country veg which is jam-packed with spinach, it has leeks and carrots in the mix too. I used to be such a sucker for a garage spinach and feta pie back in my vegetarian days, so this one is absolutely my favourite between the two I tried. There was another lady sampling the pies at the same time as me and she said the three-bean was definitely her favourite, so it all comes down to preference. It’s R30 for a pie - I’m not sure how that compares to other pie prices at King Pie, but I intend on buying one of these every once in a while for the nostalgia. I genuinely just cannot get over the speed at which a meat-free lifestyle is growing and my mind is completely blown when I think about the options we have now in comparison to when I first went vegan. UPDATE: I actually ended up stopping at a King Pie this afternoon to buy one of these pies and get the full experience - tastewise, still great, but I will say, it was a bit soggy and difficult to eat. The crust at the bottom was suuuuper soft, and the pie did kinda fall apart without its tin bottom. Regardless, I would still get it again. Could only get a sample bit of the 🥧 at the Plant Powered Show (originally being sold for R30 a pie) as they were low in stock. The filling, mostly just 🥬 and 🧅, was yummy and the pie flaky and satisfying. Will buy when I ever come across a King Pie store somewhere (non in Sandton).
