Ordered the braised firm tofu + long beans — the savoury-sweet braised sauce was super

flavourful and had a strong taste of star anise as usual :’) Long beans are on the oiler side. Super affordable at $2.50!

Feat:

sweet pumpkin stir-fried with fragrant curry leaves, crunchy kang kong, soft braised tofu with a hint of Thai-style savoury-sweet sauce & bee hoon (rice vermicelli).

This costs $3; I usually pay $3.30/$3.50/$3.70 for meals when I order processed protein dishes. Highly recommend their v flavourful curry ‘mutton’ balls which are made from mushrooms & soy!

This time I ordered smth new — the braised or hong shao soy-based ‘fish’! Tastes

sweet & savoury with a bit of umami from the bit of seaweed. Pretty huge chunks & paired well with the tangy, sweet & savoury stir-fried kelp! Added sweet potato leaves for some fibre to complete the meal :) #economicalbeehoon #fish


Rare item today — savoury-sweet fried tempeh! The tempeh was an actual whole chunk (like

one entire brown paper banana leaf pack) so that was v generous :O $3.50 for this whole plate! #tempeh


The kailan here is on the bitter side whoops; not sure if it was just

for that day. The tasty sweet & savoury teriyaki soy nuggets were the highlight of the meal! #economicalbeehoon


That day they had sweet & sour lemon ‘chicken’!! :D Paired with gourd & Chinese

spinach. V tasty but was sad about the sudden use of disposables for dine-in D:

Glistening with oil whoops but here’s the regular weekly lunch fare of pumpkin, crunchy veggies

(a mix of kailan + sweet potato leaves for that day) + a daily special (sweet & subtly tangy tempeh with crisp edges)!


Best combi — mixed noodles & bee hoon, gorgeously sweet pumpkin, cauliflower & broccoli and

decadent potato & soy-and-mushroom-based ‘mutton’ chunks in rendang sauce :’)
