Sugarcane flower

甘蔗花 is a rare ingredient. It looks like baby corn. 🌽 After cooked, the look and texture resemble fish roe. This is a simple stir fry dish with mixed vegetables but the sugarcane flower itself is already sweet, tender and delicious. 😋 #vegkl #vegetables #malaysianeats

Kuching no less 🙈 but this cafe is known for 2 things! Its beancurd and its #sugarcaneflower dishes 🌽 #sugarcane flower really is more of a cob than anything else so it may actually weird some people out! Unlike their curry version of the dish, they don’t crush this down so you actually get to see the cobs themselves. It’s a grainy texture and tastes just like young maize 🌾 It’s really just that fried with cabbage, mushroom, carrots, and fungus;- typical Chinese stir fry style. To be safe, I #veganized the dish by asking that they #droptheegg 🐣 cause they tend to be a bit liberal with tossing egg in everything here 😵‍💫


Was digging for petals then it dawned on me..

RM13 for #sugarcaneflower stir-fried in a

medley of vegetables. Kinda like a cross between babycorn and cauliflower (texture and taste-wise) with weird touches of powdery feel between bites. Ok I give up, go experience it for yourself. Meowing out 😽
