🍜 Bak Chor Mee is literally translated to noodles with vinegar meat with braised mushroom

gravy. It is a popular Hokkien dish with locals.
🍜 I first ate this in my 20s at the famous Bedok hawker centre as supper after partying with the boys. I didnt grow up eating this so it seemed adventurous to try something new. I didnt even like pork & probably ate it only because I could not really taste it when drunk 😂🤣
🍜 My bf is traditional hokkien & likes this dish, so he bought this for me for dinner. The sweetie changed the mee (yellow noodles) to kway teow (flat rice noodles) as that is what I prefer.
🍜 This is very close to the real meat version from what I vaguely remember. So it is a really good vegan remake.
🍜 But to be honest, even the minced tofu looking like minced pork is scary for me. But those who love this dish will love this one!
🍜 Lucky for me, there are bean sprouts, mushrooms & green veggies which are more appealing.

I have a soft spot for bak chor mee and it isn't so common to

find veg versions of it. I was pleasantly surprised to find that they use tofu for the mince instead of mock meat. This tastes nice and is more natural. But as tofu is quite soft the texture and taste wasn't so obvious. Nice sauce and mushrooms. This cost $4 and is a good #comfortfood. Really #spoiltforchoice by the array of options at this stall and there are so many vegetarian stalls in this hawker centre. #sgcheapandgood 🍜

before i became vegetarian 6 years ago, #bakchormee / 肉脞面 / minced pork noodle 🍜 literally was 1 of my favorites and probably the hardest thing for me to let go… i swear i had this like almost every single day because it was salty, savoury, umami, sour, spicy basically it was a flavour bomb 💣 while i have found great alternatives, this MUST be the closest like 95% closeness to what i had years ago!!! shocked me to thinking i was actually eating meat and i got all paranoid 🤯

the noodles have a bouncy and #chewy texture, perfectly cooked, AMAZINGLY #seasoned to perfection with the minced “meat”, #mushroom, vinegar and vegetables 🥬🍄
