My road trip has taken me to Fogo Island, Newfoundland. I was pleasantly surprised
to see a nearby restaurant offer plant-based alternatives (burgers, cheese, bacon crumble) to a number of dishes. Tonight, I ordered the Caramelized Onion Burger with a plant-based patty (a substitute for the ground beef patty), no cheese (they apparently ran out of plant-based cheese) and no garlic aioli (dairy-based). It was very good. The caramelized onions gave the burger a really nice taste!
I would have ordered a pizza with the plant-based bacon crumble, but after learning that they had run out of the plant-based cheese, I opted for this burger instead.
I’d get it again.
