Senior Manager, Communications & Public Relations



abillion is looking for an experienced communications professional who is eager to help build abillion’s reputation around the world.

You should have at least 5 years of hands-on agency and/or in-house experience. You should be good at summarising ideas and crafting memorable sound bites. You should have experience with crafting press releases, pitching to the media, running media events, managing campaigns, media training and managing media appearances for colleagues. You will ideally have an interest in thought leadership and in public policy. You should be confident and articulate; you should be a good written and verbal communicator, at ease with presenting to anyone and everyone, regardless of age or station.

  • Ideating communications strategies
  • Helping to manage and mentor junior communications staff
  • Managing agencies and freelancers
  • Keeping abreast of current trends in the sustainability space, seeing how they relate to our work and our company
  • Helping to build and manage our communications calendar
  • Participate in creating content strategies for written and video content, including audience identification, topic identification, and recommended distribution channels
  • Overseeing campaigns
  • Writing and editing press releases
  • Assisting in managing our media list, which involves identifying and building relationships with journalists who are important to abillion
  • Track content engagement in order to provide recommendations on channel improvements to increase followers
  • Pitching releases to select media
  • Responding to queries by media
  • Monitoring media for mention of abillion and assessing if any mentions require action by the company
  • Seeking and managing speaking engagements and opportunities for designated spokespersons, including our CEO
  • Writing and editing white papers, op eds, speeches


  • Minimum of 5 years experience working in PR / communications in-house or for an agency
  • Must have an excellent understanding of different media platforms
  • Ability to write, edit and proof-read quality written content fit for media release
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office or similar software
  • Fluency in English. Fluency in additional languages is a plus


  • Good interpersonal skills and able to work in teams and autonomously
  • Good mentoring skills
  • Able to function effectively with ambiguity and willing to take considered risks to achieve cut-through
  • Great organisational and time management skills including the ability to manage workflow and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated passion in the sustainability space is a must
